 Friday March 29:   WINNERS CIRCLE RECEPTION AND SECRETARIAT MOVIE NIGHT  (enter Gate 2 off Rt. 30; parking is free)

 5:00 – 6:45 pm  The Meadow Mansion:  Reception honoring  Penny Chenery, Ron Turcotte, Charlie Davis, Kate Tweedy (advance ticket required; ticket includes admission to movie) 

7:00 – 9:30 pm  The Meadow Pavilion:  Public showing of the Disney Secretariat movie followed by panel discussion with Penny Chenery, Ron Turcotte, Charlie Davis and Kate Tweedy  (advance ticket required;  may be purchased separately if not attending reception)

The Farm Bureau Exhibition Hall  (enter Gate 3; parking is free)

 11 am –  Exhibit Hall opens

 Outside activities: 

  • Caroline Hunt presents horses and hounds on front lawn 2-3 times during day
  • Meet Secretariat descendants Covert Action and Rainaway
  • Meet officers and horses from the Richmond Mounted Squad
  • Narrated tram rides begin around the historic property to see Secretariat’s original foaling shed, the yearling barns, training barns, stallion barns and more
  • Self-guided walking tours

 Inside activities: 

  • Special signing area  for Penny Chenery, Ron Turcotte, Charlie Davis and Kate Tweedy
  • Meet the original grooms and riders of The Meadow training stable
  • See Secretariat’s first training saddle and meet the son of the man who first rode Big Red
  • See Riva Ridge’s first training saddle and meet the man who first rode him
  • Extensive display of Secretariat merchandise and memorabilia
  • Equine product vendors and horse industry educational exhibits
  • “Taste of Virginia” vendors showcasing VA products  
  • Colonial Downs racetrack exhibit booth
  • Kiddie Corral with activities for kids and mini horses to pet
  • Secretariat’s and Riva’s races showing on screen all day
  • 3:00 PM – Special Program on Stage with Presentations and a Musical Tribute to Secretariat 

 5:00 PM – Event concludes
